Promosedia competition design a chair

( http://designawards4us.com/index.php/design-awards/promosedia-competition-design-a-chair.html ) The aim of the competition is to stimulate innovative ideas for chairs, which must be technically feasible and designed to be mass produced. Submissions should express originality and identify the use and function of the chair, giving due consideration to ergonomics, choice of materials and the requirements for mass production. Entries should present ideas for indoor chairs for either residential or contract use, making a significant use of wood (NB: designs of seats such as chaises longues, divans, stools and pouffes are ineligible).

Submission deadline: 31th March 2008.

Who can enter: designers under the age of 40
Awards: 3,500 euro in cash

The competition is open to designers and architects (including students) under the age of 40 on 8th September 2007. Entry by a design school, or individual courses of industrial design is also possible.

The competition is organized by Promosedia, an organization that promotes the products of northern Italian (e.g. the Friuli region) chair manufacturers. One of its instruments is the Promosedia fair, which will be held from 13 until 16 September, 2008.
